Well, the US was the only team that Italy didn’t beat in World Cup play. It was a 1-1 draw and clearly an off day for Italy against one of the US’s lesser World Cup entries, but it is a small somthing for the US team to hang it’s hat on.

That little fact got me pulling for Italia in the final match against France.

As I told some Italians I know: Maybe someday, hopefully before we’re all too old and grey, it will be the USA.

Why not? The athletes are here and take a close look at the sport’s infrastructure here. It’s growing and outpacing what you might find in other countries known for fielding better Cup teams.

Maybe, if the united states put aside all sportmanship, like all the winning teams did, and used the methods that make their foreign politics so popular, they would start getting the cup. So i propose Dick Cheney as Coach.
