I wish the women in the videos on the “I am Emily X” blog showed more anger. The urgency of the reproductive rights situation just isn’t communicated as effectively as it could be. It’s only a few weeks ago that the Bush administration (yet again) put an anti-birth control radical in charge of U.S. family planning policy.

Susan Orr used to be a director at a Christian-right organization called the Family Research Council. Now she is the head of a federal program responsible for providing birth control and other family planning services to the poor. And this isn’t the first time someone totally against sex-education and family planning has been put in charge of America’s family planning programs. No reproductive rights should be taken for granted in this country.

Planned Parenthood need all the funds they can get to help fight anti-abortion/anti-planning activists. I’m actually a little surprised this clever campaign to raise money based on the amount of anti-abortion protesters spotted at one clinic this month didn’t earn more.
